Extractive MegaProjects against the climate !
On September 8th 2018, echoing the Global Day of Action Rise for Climate, activist and artist PY Serinet engaged in a 10000 km motorcycle journey from Quebec to Colombia, roaming across the United States, Mexico and all Central American Countries, to document along the road outrageous megaprojects exploiting natural resources -forestry, mining, oil and gas, agribusiness- that are devastating our planet and represent the root causes of the actual social and climate crisis. The road trip will allow to meet community people who courageously rise day after day to defend the territory and protect their livelihoods, and to draw their portray through a photographic travelogue while witnessing the beautiful landscapes and native forests.
The Lost City?
You can join this People and the Planet First ! Road Trip from the distance, wherever you are. Your help is key to connect the dots, the issues and the people. The objective? The Lost City, the one located of course up high in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia, but most importantly the city that together we can imagine, one of community for social and climate justice, based on the principles of a living well for all, where no one is left behind.
We count on your suggestions of people to meet and extractive projects to be denounced along the way.

Political scientist and social strategist, Pierre-Yves Serinet has been working with multi-sector social coalitions and networks in Quebec and at the international level for more than 20 years. He was closely involved in a diversity of battles against free trade and investment agreements and the privileges these give to transnational corporations over peoples’ rights and sovereignty. From 2004 to 2014, he coordinated the Quebec Network on Continental Integration (RQIC), a broad coalition of labour, women, student, environment, community and human rights groups fighting together for an alternative socio-economic model based on social and climate justice. In parallel to his involvement in social movements, he co-founded in 2003 and to these days directs the multidisciplinary art company The Magic Blanket Productions, combining creativity and social action through artistic projects (theatre, performance art, visual arts, literature) that favour a dialogue between art and society.
